The story of Respect Back to Our Oceans
Would you like to live in a world without this amazing creatures? A little tribute to the habitants of the majestic ocean kingdom. Inspired by the experience I had in 2017 of diving in The Great Barrier Reef next to the tropical area of Port Douglas, in the North of Queensland, Australia. In the last 200 years, we have polluted and altered ecosystems all around the world by abusing from activities such us: Plastic use, over extraction of fossil fuel, mining dumping waste, net fishing, farm fishing, hunting whales, sharks, dolphins and others, indiscriminate rainforest’s deforestation which has an impact on sea levels raising and temperatures, amongst others. This is the outcome of an irrational desire to “own”, proposed by a thirsty consumer society. We are distracted from going deeper into ourselves and confused on what we really NEED to “supply” ourselves with in the emotional and material way. Disrespect our oceans, is to disrespect ourselves. In times like these when all human activities have been stopped temporarily, we have witnessed all around the world the spectacular regenerative capacity of nature, once again offering to all of us a nourishing and healing home. How to start to make amends with ourselves, to honour our “home”?
