The story of Womb of Nature
A long time ago I had been thinking about the idea of making a drawing in reference to two places that I treasure and that instill deep respect in my heart: Wugudaji Adels Grove, located in the far North of Australia and the Olivillo Costero, located in the South of Chile. When I visited the Olivillo Costero for the first time, it reminded me of the first place mentioned, it was as if a kind of portal had opened between both places. In my opinion, both places have a certain connection, it is as if one were the scale reproduction of the other, the complementation, each one with its respective singularities.Wugudaji Adels Grove has an imposing and attractive mangrove, the water that crosses it reflects the exuberant place like a mirror, giving a feeling of infinity. The Olivillo Costero has a dense and intricate forest of centuries-old trees, with multiple and millimeter-sized ramifications that form narrow caves that also give that feeling of infinity. During the creative process of this piece, without intending to, in my intuitive style of painting, I gradually generated, to my surprise, sinuously feminine forms that allude to a kind of womb, a womb that houses a light. As if at the end of this passage there was a return to that light, a kind of winter solstice, a rebirth, an attempt to see things clearly again, crossing that forest, or Great Water... As some of you know, I have been “trying” to study the complex Oracle of I-Ching for some time, in this the term “Great Water” is mentioned several times, which more or less means something difficult that you have to go through to grow spiritually, and reach that “inner paradise”. In recent times I have gone through physical pain, fears and obsessions, which lead to making decisions that involve significant changes, trusting again, getting out of inertia and letting go of what one does not want to lose... I could not say that I have managed to completely cross said forest or Great Water, however here I am, to the rhythm of the line and the music trying to let myself be guided by that light that I rediscovered in this abundant and vibrant portal… creating from the smallest to the largest.
